Shannon Flanery

I am a teacher of English as a second language to students in social studies classes. I teach EL US History level one and two. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia College Moorhead with a double major in history and in education. I received my certificate to teach English as a second language in 2020. The same year I also began my career in teaching AVID 9. This is my 5th year teaching AVID and I currently have juniors whom I have had for three years now. I enjoy getting to see a wide range of students and help with the skills it takes to be successful both in and out of school. It is also very fulfilling to help students look forward to a future of post-secondary education, careers or the military.

I received my Master of Social Science in teacher leadership with an emphasis in teaching teachers in the fall of 2023 at Minnesota State University of Moorhead. Additionally, myself and my coworker Mrs. Kleffman - Moen are Prom Committee, Junior Class advisors and hosts of prom during the year. I have been doing this for 7 years. It is such a fun event to get the Junior class involved in, and pull off every year! I Also help support and advise the Muslim Student Association which was created at our school for the first time last year by students who saw a need for it.

When I am not in school I work many jobs, probably because of this chosen profession and my love of shopping. You can find me teaching yoga at Indigo Bloom in Fargo or bartending at Top Shelf in West Fargo. I enjoy working out and spending time with my friends and family who have stayed in the area. I myself am a Packer, growing up in this school and community is my favorite fun fact. I am lucky to work a school with such rich history and traditions. #GoPack #BleedGreen
