Shannon Flanery

I am a teacher of English as a second language to students in social studies classes. I teach EL US History level one and two. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia College Moorhead with a double major in history and in education. I received my certificate to teach English as a second language in 2020. The same year I also began my career in teaching AVID at WFHS. This is my 8^th year teaching AVID and I currently have grade 10. This is my second year with my cohort of AVID. I enjoy getting to see a wide range of students and help with the skills it takes to be successful both in and out of school. It is also very fulfilling to help students look forward to the future of post-secondary education, careers or the military.

I received my Master of Social Science in teacher leadership with an emphasis in teaching teachers in the fall of 2023 at Minnesota State University of Moorhead. I perused my national board certification in 2024 and will hear back on that certification this December.  I Also help support and advise the Muslim Student Association which was created at our school for the first time two years ago by students who saw a need for it.

When I am not in school I enjoy working out, shopping, reading and spending time with my friends and family who have stayed in the area.  I myself am a Packer, growing up in this school and community is my favorite fun fact, I love it here and I am lucky to work a school with such rich history and traditions. #GoPack #BleedGreen
