Rachel Bachmeier is Principal of West Fargo High School. Originally from Kent, Ohio, Dr. Bachmeier attended Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio for her undergraduate degree, majoring in History and Secondary Education as well as completing a program in Teacher Leadership through the McDonough Center for Leadership and Business. Upon graduating, Dr. Bachmeier joined Teach for America and served as a Corps Member on the Rosebud Indian Reservation, teaching 8th Grade Language Arts at Todd County Middle School. After three years living and working on the reservation and earning her master’s degree in educational administration through the University of South Dakota, Dr. Bachmeier transitioned to Denver Public Schools as an 8th Grade U.S. history teacher at McAuliffe International School in the Park Hill neighborhood. During the summers, Dr. Bachmeier trained new Teach for America Corps Members at Summer Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as well as instructed leadership in the Harkness Method at Phillips Exeter Academy, a boarding school in Exeter, New Hampshire. In 2016, Dr. Bachmeier moved to her husband’s hometown of West Fargo and began her career at West Fargo High School, first as an English Learner Social Studies instructor and later as Dean of Students, then as Assistant Principal. She accepted the opportunity to serve as head principal beginning in the fall of 2022 and received her doctorate from the University of North Dakota in 2024. Dr. Bachmeier lives in Packer Country with her husband, daughter Linden, and their rescue pup, Sunka. When she is not at school, she enjoys teaching adult dance classes at Red River Dance and Performing Company, exploring national parks with her family, and cheering on The Ohio State University Buckeyes (second only to the West Fargo Packers!).
